Police: Dearborn Heights Couple Tied Up, Robbed

Personal Check May Have Saved Couple

POSTED: Monday, February 23,
UPDATED: 10:01 am EST February 23, 2004

An elderly couple is safe and two men are behind bars Monday morning after a robbery in the couple's Dearborn Heights home.

Police said the pair forced their way into the home, tied the couple and demanded money.

Officers were responding to another call when they spotted the men on the street carrying a pillowcase, Local 4 reported.

The two then fled, according to investigators.

When police finally caught up with the suspects, they found $100,000 in stolen cash and a personal check.

Police report that the check contained the Dearborn Heights address that led them to find and free the elderly couple.
