Police are searching for a man who has reportedly robbed at least one house per day in a local neighborhood.
Detectives say the man appears to be targeting homes on corner lots, or homes near alleyways, in the area of Dix Road in Lincoln Park.Families living on New York Avenue, London, Richmond and Stewart streets are among those that have been hit, according to police.
Police say in most of the home invasions, the man broke in through a side door. The door to Marcia Aloisi's home was knocked down. The robber reportedly left with some precious jewelry, Local 4 reported."I'm thankful that I wasn't home at the time," said Aloisi.Aloisi told Local 4 she was having a steel-framed door installed at the side entrance, and that she planned on bolting her door more often to prevent a future attack."It's not nice to have to feel unsafe around your house," she said.Police say the culprit rummaged through the upstairs of another woman's home -- at New York and Hazel streets -- while she was taking a shower downstairs. No injuries have been reported in the attacks, but police are fearful of what the man will do if he encounters a homeowner, Local 4 reported. The man is described as white, in his 50s, with long gray hair. He reportedly drives a blue Ford Tempo with damage to the front bumper.Anyone with information is asked to call the Lincoln Park Police Department at (313) 381-1850.
