3 arrested in connection with Warren woman tied up during home invasion

71-year-old woman tied up during home invasion, police say

WARREN, Mich. – Three people have been arrested in connection with an attack on a Warren woman during a home invasion.

Police said earlier Thursday that they were searching for two men suspected of tying up a 71-year-old woman while they ransacked her house on Falmouth Drive near 11 Mile and Hoover roads.

Police executed a search warrant at a home on a side street off of Van Dyke Road in Center Line, where they saw three people leaving in a white Jaguar.

At 3:30 p.m., officials pulled over a car at Harding and Van Dyke roads in Center Line. Police took three people into custody.

In the car, police found the 71-year-old woman's cellphone, along with other items taken in the home invasion.

Police also found items taken in other breaking and entering cases in Warren and Center Line over the past month.

Police are executing a search warrant at a home on Harding Road.

One suspect is still at large, police said.

Woman attacked during home invasion

The two men, armed with a baseball bat, broke into the home around 5 a.m. Thursday, police said.

They threatened to hurt the woman and kill her cat, police said.

Police released surveillance pictures of the men taken from just after the attack at Walmart at 12 Mile and Van Dyke roads.

Officials also released the 911 call that the woman made after she untied herself.

"Someone just broke into my home and tied me up and took all of my belongings," the woman told the 911 operator.

"Who was this?" the operator asked.

"I have no idea," the woman said. "They knew my son. That's all I know."

The woman said the men got in through her window. Local 4 asked her how she was doing.

"Yeah, I'm fine," she said. "They did not hurt me."

Neighbors said it's a quiet street, but the woman suffered a terrifying ordeal when the two men broke into her home.

"I guess someone, two young black males in their late 20s to 30s, broke in one of the windows that wasn't already all the way latched, and they flashed a flashlight in her face and threatened her, and got her ATM number, and stole her phone and wallet," the woman's son said.

Investigators also released an image of a silver minivan with which the suspects were pictured.

Police said the men might also have been involved in another attempted break-in earlier Thursday morning.
