3 arrested with $100K worth of stolen items in Monroe

LAMBERTVILLE, Mich. – Monroe police say that three suspects who had about $100,000 in stolen items were arrested Friday in Lambertville, Michigan.

Sheriff Dale Malone says three people who had recently sold over $20,000 worth of gold coins in the Toledo area were trying to cash the check from the stolen coins at a Lambertville bank. As the suspects left the bank, their car was stopped by police near Secor Road and Quail Hollow Drive.

Police found about $80,000 worth of coins and jewelry in the trunk of the suspects' car.

The deputies were later contacted by Toledo police about a robbery of $100,000 worth of coins and property stolen from a home Friday. The stolen items in the trunk of the suspects' car was identified as the same property stolen in the Toledo case, according to authorities.

The suspects denied being involved in the robbery.

Two suspects, a 37-year-old Lambertville man and a 20-year-old Toledo man, were lodged on receiving and concealing over $20,000 at the Monroe County Jail. The third, a 16-year-old from Toledo, was released to his guardian with pending charges.

All three suspects are facing charges in Toledo for the break-in.

Police are still investigating the case.
