3 customers, 1 sales clerk arrested in alleged plot to steal items from Troy store

Troy Police: Store associate failed to charge select customers for merchandise

TROY, Mich. – Four men were arrested after police say a store associate failed to charge select customers for all of the items presented for purchase at Macy's in Troy.

In one incident a 23-year-old Oak Park customer had five items to purchase and the associate charged the man for one.

The total amount of merchandise stolen was $588.89.

In another transaction police say the same sales clerk failed to charge a 33-year-old customer from Dearborn for several pieces of merchandise totaling $1,127.99.

In a third case a 29-year-old man, also from Dearborn was only charged for one of the seven items of clothing he left the store with.

Police say all three men admitted to knowing the sales associate and were charged with retail fraud.

The sales associate, a 28-year-old Detroit man, was arrested and charged with embezzlement
