WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Three people were taken to the hospital Thursday after being seriously injured in a 10-vehicle crash in Washington Township, police said.

A semi truck driven by a 54-year-old Detroit man was traveling north on M-53 around 8 a.m. near 32 Mile Road, Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said. The semi truck collided into vehicles that were stopped or preparing to stop for a red light at the intersection, police said.

Three people from separate vehicles were taken to nearby hospitals to be treated for critical injuries, officials said.

Police are continuing to investigate the crash.
