3 in critical condition after motorcycles crash in SW Detroit

Police say 2 were riding alongside each other on Fort Street

DETROIT – A motorcycle driver who took his eyes off the road for just a few seconds led to three people being rushed to the hospital with critical injuries Sunday night in southwest Detroit.

Police said two men who knew each other were riding alongside one another on Fort Street, going about 70 miles per hour, when one man's baseball hat flew off. He looked back for a split second and lost control. The men's bikes then skid 200 feet from where they crashed.

Police said both men, who are 20 and 21 years old, are in critical condition after suffering from several injuries including arm and head injuries.

A female passenger who was unconscious and barely moving when EMS arrived is also reportedly in critical condition.

Officials said no one was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
