3 men shot at traffic light on Detroit's west side, 1 fatally

DETROIT – Three men who were stopped at a traffic light on Detroit’s west side were shot and one of the victims died at the scene, police said.

The shooting happened around 2 a.m. at 8 Mile and Southfield roads.

Detroit police said the three men were in a black Chrysler 300 when a man driving a black Jeep with tinted windows pulled up beside them and fired shots into the Chrysler.

A 24-year-old man in the Chrysler sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to the hospital in temporary serious condition.

The second passenger, a 25-year-old man, was grazed on his arms and legs.

Police said the 24-year-old front-seat passenger died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds.

Authorities are unsure if the assailant acted alone or had accomplices, adding that there may have been up to three men inside the Jeep.

No arrests have been made and police are still investigating.
