MONROE, Mich. -

Police say four men forced their way into an apartment on 100 block of W. Front Street in Monroe at gun point early Friday.

A man and a woman were inside the apartment. Police says the suspects were looking for a third person, who was known to the victims.

The men forced the woman to drive them to Newport, to look for the other person. Police say the men did find the third person and a possible assault and robbery occurred next.

The suspects then drove the woman back to her apartment and fled the scene when they saw police units.

Nearby schools were placed on lockdown as police searched for the suspects in the area of Third and Smith streets. The schools affected were Monroe Middle School, St. John Catholic School and Trinity Lutheran School.

The lockdowns have been lifted. All four suspects are in custody. A handgun was recovered during the hunt.
