3 Sisters Testify In Father's Murder Trial

Man Charged With Murder In Wife's Killing

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Three young sisters testified Friday about what they saw the night their parents got into a deadly fight.

Rahim Lockridge is charged with murder in the death of his wife, Kenyatta. Southfield police said the two got into a fight Sept. 19 in their Southfield home and it was their daughters who called 911.

The couple's daughters, ages 17, 11 and 8, said they tried to pull their dad off their mother when he put her in a head lock. They said their mother eventually collapsed.

"I was on the ground with my sister, looking at my mom because she was breathing hard," the 11-year-old said.

The daughters said the fight had started over money.

Oakland County Medical Examiner L.J. Dragovic said the mother died from asphyxia due to neck compressions. He also noted an autopsy revealed the mother had alcohol and marijuana in her system.

The defense is arguing Rahim Lackridge acted in self defense because his wife attacked him.

Lockridge has a history of previous domestic violence. He was charged with it in 2007 and again in November 2010, but that charge was later reduced to disorderly conduct.

The daughters are staying with other family.
