$3,000 worth of jeans stolen from Designer Warehouse in Wayne

WAYNE, Mich. – A thief broke into a popular clothing store in Wayne Thursday morning and stole thousands of dollars worth of expensive jeans.

The robbery happened at around 2 a.m. at the Designer Warehouse, located on Michigan Avenue in Wayne. The thief wasn't able to break through the tempered glass front door with a hammer so instead the thief broke in through the display window.

"They first tried to enter in through the front door, and they weren't able to get in so they entered through the side glass door and within 40 seconds they were able to take what they needed and leave. They stole about 13 pairs of jeans," said Domenic Policicchio III.

The thief was caught on surveillance video fleeing the store with the jeans in hand.

"It's very unfortunate that it's the holiday season and when you're supposed to give back, you have individuals that instead of giving back want to take," Policicchio III said.

Policicchio III said their business is grateful to the Wayne Police Department for their response to the robbery. The store has been around for 34 years and this is the second robbery. However, there have been robberies in the area recently.

Anyone with information about the thief is asked to contact the Wayne Police Department.
