CANTON, Mich. -

The 31st Annual Canton Cup Soccer Tournament will be held May 24 -26 on over 50 fields through Canton including fields at the event headquarters in Independence Park, Heritage Park, Griffin Park and the Plymouth-Canton Education High School.

Preparations are still being made, but there is expected to be over 40,000 attending over the weekend.

With this tournament being the largest of its kind in the state, there will be events held throughout the entire weekend. The tournaments will be held Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Canton club is comprised of approximately 3,000 players with over 96 teams competing in in-house, travel, select and premiere leagues.

2013 Canton Cup Soccer Tournament Director. "We strive to create an environment of growth for all players that is fun, challenging, but most importantly rewarding for everyone involved in the game."

Teams will include boys ages eight to 19 and girls ages eight to 15. Divisions are multiple in each age group and are created based on the team's skill level, but each team is set to play a three game minimum with playoffs scheduled for each age group.

Participating teams with over 9,000 players will travel from Michigan, Ontario, Ohio, Indiana, and Pennsylvania to take part in over 1000 games, in one of the Midwest's largest club-based tournaments.

The event is sponsored by Kia of Canton, Atchinson Ford, Traveling Teams, ComSource, Oakwood Sorts Medicine and Soccer World, will be presented by the Canton Soccer club and sanctioned by the Michigan State Youth Soccer Association along with the United States Youth Soccer Association.
