An off-duty Detroit police officer may face charges for allegedly causing a fatal collision around 3 a.m. Saturday, Local 4 reported.
Lt. James Agee, an 18-year veteran who works out of the 13th Precinct, was reportedly driving the wrong way on a one-way street when his sport utility vehicle collided head-on with a vehicle driven by Nehemiah Thompson, 20.
The impact occurred at the corner of Burns and East Warren on Detroit's east side. Thompson died from his injuries, Local 4 reported.
Witnesses said Agee (pictured, left) appeared "out of it," but police are still investigating to determine if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
"He was pretty sluggish. He would get up and he tried to talk but his words didn't come out too straight," said Julaus Burks, a witness.
Jonathan Bussey, a friend, said Agee was on his way over to his house when the crash occurred.

"He's my best friend and I love him and I support him. It's hard for me to believe that he could have been responsible for something as tragic as this," said Bussey.
Agee was taken to a local hospital to be treated but the status of his condition was unknown.
Thompson (pictured, right) was an employee of the City of Detroit who was attending community college, the station reported.
The Detroit Police Department has yet to comment on the incident.
