A fund is established for the families affected by a fire that swept through a mobile home park in Pittsfield Township on Tuesday morning.
The fire reportedly started at a gas line near an electrical meter and destroyed two homes and melted the siding on two others at the Saline Meadows mobile home park on East Michigan Avenue, Local 4 reported.
Rebecca Kirk lost the home her family had lived in for just one week.
"I lost everything because I just bought the place when my mom passed away recently and she left me a little bit of money and I paid cash. I lost everything," said Kirk.
Kirk had reportedly planned on getting insurance for the home.
Betty Pugh was in her home sleeping when her sister spotted the flames and got her out safely, the station learned.
"If she wasn't here, I would of died," said Pugh.
Firefighters rescued Kirk's dog from the fire. The dog was taken to a veterinarian to be treated for burns but was expected to be OK.
No other injuries were reported.
The Washtenaw County Red Cross is providing temporary shelter and food for the four families affected by the fires.
