FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- An Internet chat room allegedly led to two months of sexual assault to a 15-year-old special-needs girl in Farmington Hills.
Police said Philip Hahl (pictured, left), 23, of Farmington Hills, and his live-in girlfriend, Tatianna Melnyk (pictured, below), 19, met the girl online. They claimed they needed a baby sitter for their 3-year-old child and arranged to meet with the 15-year-old at a Berkley park, Local 4 reported.
"The couple met the girl and took her to their Farmington Hills apartment where they furnished her with alcohol. Truth-or-dare games led to handcuffing and sexual assault," Farmington Hills police Chief William Dwyer stated.
The couple also used blindfolds, cameras and video-recording equipment, according to Dwyer.
The girl's parents alerted police after their daughter returned home intoxicated after visiting a local park, Local 4 reported.
Farmington Hills police said they monitored computer messages between the victim and suspects after the assault was reported. The information gave investigators enough evidence to obtain arrest warrants against Hahl and Melnyk, police said.
"Internet police officers routinely pose as underage minors to arrange meetings with predators, but sadly in this case, the predator met a real victim," Dwyer said.
The couple's 3-year-old child was home at the time of the alleged incidents, the station reported. The child has reportedly been taken away from the couple, who are both being held in jail.
Investigators also seized several computers, videotapes and a pair of handcuffs from the couple.
Hahl and Melnyk are expected to be arraigned on several charges in connection with the alleged assaults at the 47th District Court at 3 p.m. Monday.
Police said Hahl has a prior record of child abuse.
