Police confiscated three tanks of nitrous oxide during the raid at the Island Bar on Biddle Avenue around 2 a.m. Sunday, the station reported.

Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, is used in some dentist or doctor offices as a pain reliever, but has also gained popularity as a recreational drug, the station reported.

The Island Bar was allegedly selling the gas for $5 a shot.

Officers from the Michigan State Police Downriver Area Narcotics Organization assisted in the raid. Authorities arrested and ticketed 34 people ranging in age from 18 to 35 years old.

The bust was the result of a two-week investigation. Police were notified of the alleged rave party in an anonymous call.

"We received a tip, an anonymous phone call and we started working it over the last two weeks," said Detective Joe Peterson, of the Wyandotte Police Department.

If misused, nitrous oxide can potentially cause brain damage or a heart attack.
