Neighbors Report Truckload Of Stolen Auto Parts
POSTED: Friday, August 6, 2004
A semi-truck loaded with stolen Ford auto parts was discovered Friday in a rural Inkster neighborhood.
Police said the parts are valued at least $500,000.
Neighbors called police after they became suspicious of two men unloading large, chrome wheel rims from the back of the big truck.
"We located rims, power seat brackets, and moldings for new cars," said Cmdr. Greg Hill, of the Inkster police department.
Police recovered some of the stolen parts from the back yard of a home in the 30,000 block of Grandview. Local 4 reported investigators are looking for the owner of the home and trying to track the daring delivery.
"We've contacted Ford Motor Company security and they sent a representative out who took an inventory," said Hill.
Investigators believe the shipment was headed to a Ford plant, but the investigation continues.
Police were planning to search the home where the parts were discovered. Two men are in custody and more arrests are pending, Local 4 reported.
