ClickOnDetroit Rules and Policies

When registering to participate in our online forums, you agree to the terms and conditions of participation outlined below. Registration is free. Any information that is disclosed in these areas becomes public information, and you should exercise caution when deciding to disclose your personal information. This site has taken reasonable security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control. Please remember that no computer system should be considered safe from intrusion. E-mail may pass through many computer systems, and should not be considered as a secure means of communication unless encrypted. Even then, information is only as secure as the encryption method.

All ClickOnDetroit discussion boards are moderated by a team. Although the moderators reserve the right to reject any submission for any reason without notice, our practice is to notify participants via e-mail when a submission is declined. Posts which have been previously accepted for publication may also be removed at any time, for any reason and without notice. Moderators do not edit submissions in any way -- they are either accepted or rejected exactly as submitted by the forum participant.

All posts must be submitted in English.

Submissions may be rejected if a moderator finds them to contain:
  • potentially libelous material.
  • profanity, vulgarity or words that demean any group based on identity, as defined by the moderators.
  • name-calling or other personal attacks directed at other participants, as defined by the moderators.
  • significant comments not pertaining directly to the discussion topic, comments which will draw other participants off-topic and comments which do not meaningfully contribute to advancing the discussion, as defined by the moderators.
  • comments exceeding our 500-word limit. (Note: submissions which are broken up into several posts in an effort to circumvent the 500-word limit will be rejected.)
  • comments focused on the promotion of a product or service.
  • comments including significant material taken from other sources without permission and/or attribution. Viewers who include quotes from other sources must attribute those quotes properly; a link to the full source text is preferred. Because our discussion forums are designed for participants' original thoughts, submissions consisting entirely or in large part of republished material may be rejected, whether attributed or not.
  • submissions including any e-mail address, including that of the participant.
  • any HTML coding. Basic pseudo-HTML is permitted.

Participants whose submissions violate the above guidelines will be notified via e-mail that their post has been declined. If the moderators cannot reach the participant via e-mail, the submission will be deleted without notice and the user account turned offline.

Participants are welcome to contact the moderators with comments or questions. Moderators will respond as time permits. However, inappropriate language, denigrating or insulting comments will result in immediate revocation of the participant's posting privileges without warning.

Participants who do not provide a valid e-mail address with their registration will have their user accounts turned offline.

Participants with inappropriate usernames or signature files, as defined by the moderators, will have their user accounts turned offline.

Participants whose submissions are declined are always invited to rewrite and re-submit their comments.

Participants who violate the above guidelines may have their posting privileges revoked without warning.

As always, we welcome your comments.
