LANSING, Mich. – The Center for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed Tuesday that a third person has died in Michigan following the national meningitis outbreak.
The deaths occurred in Genesee, Livingston and Washtenaw Counties.
State health officials say the steroid medication suspected of causing the outbreak was shipped to four facilities in Michigan.
The CDC reports that to date 25 people in Michigan have contracted fungal meningitis and 11 have died nationwide.
The three deaths in Michigan are from Genesse, Livingston and Washtenaw counties.

George Cary spoke to reporters after a memorial service for 67-year-old Lilian Carey.
She died Sept. 30 after failing to recover from a stroke.
Lilian was diagnosed with meningitis after beating treated with steroids for back pain at a Brighton clinic, northwest of Detroit.
Her husband received similar injections from possibly tainted steroids and is awaiting test results.
