STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – Sterling Heights detectives are asking for the public's help in finding a group of thieves who took a woman's purse and went on a shopping spree with her credit card.
Police also want residents to see how purse thieves operate, so everyone can be a step ahead.
The security camera footage from LA Contessa Boutique in Sterling Heights is crystal clear and shows four women walking in the front door and splitting up to distract workers.
The boutique has dresses and formal gowns, but the ladies were more interested in an employee's Coach purse they found hanging on one of the racks.
According to Sterling Heights police, a woman asked the worker for something to get her away for a few seconds, which was long enough to grab the purse and get out the door.
You can see the surveillance footage in the video posted above.
The victim's credit card was used in Pontiac, where someone racked up thousands of dollars in charges.
Last month, just a few miles away at Troy Beaumont Hospital, officials warned employees that the women were stealing nurses' purses from behind their workstations.
Sterling Heights police said it's a reminder that everyone needs to lock up belongings during work.
Anyone who recognizes the women should call Sterling Heights police.
