A 17-year-old male from Detroit was shot after he participated in a robbery at a local store, police said.
The 17-year-old and two other teens -- a 16-year-old and a 15-year-old, also from Detroit -- are accused of robbing a party store in the 19600 block of 10 Mile in Southfield at about 9 p.m. on Wednesday.
Police said it appears that the 51-year-old storeowner, from West Bloomfield, opened fire because he felt his life was threatened by the three youths.
The 17-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to Providence Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
The 16-year-old and 15-year-old were arrested. One was chased and captured by a police officer and the other was tracked down by a K-9 unit, police said.
Police said the teens were driving a stolen 2002 Dodge Durango.
The robbery and shooting remain under investigation, according to police.
The names of the teenagers were being withheld pending charges.
