DETROIT -- A naked man created tense moments at a Detroit middle school Thursday.
The 23-year-old man walked through the front door, passed a school security guard and forced his way into the office of Taft Middle School at about noon, Local 4 reported. The man -- who police said is mentally challenged -- demanded that school employees listen to his "demo tape," according to the report. Then he started to remove his clothing.
"All of the teachers tried to grab him. He pushed some of them down," said eighth-grade student Rita Woodard.
Woodard said nobody could grab the man.
When police arrived at the school, the man was naked. He tried to enter a classroom by breaking a window, Local 4 reported.
"I saw all the blood on the floor and on the doors, and the window bust out," said eighth-grader Dominique Moore.
Police were able to detain the man.
No one in the school was hurt. Classes were dismissed early.
"I was real scared. I didn't know what was going to happen," said Woodard.
Concerned parents came to the school to pick up their children.
"Anybody can go in at anytime," said parent Teresa Jenkins. "It's not secure."
The man was taken to a nearby hospital for a mental evaluation. Police did not release his name.
