Police: Intruders Rape Teen, Set Hair On Fire

Men Allegedly Steal Computer From Home

POSTED: Thursday, February 17, 2005
UPDATED: 12:46 pm EST February 17, 2005

Two men are accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl and setting her hair on fire last Thursday.

The 13-year-old said she was home alone, asleep, when the two men entered the Brownstown Township home through an open door and attacked her.

The men allegedly fled the home with the teen's computer. She was able to put the fire out in a bathroom, police said.

Ronald Kinney (pictured, left), 18, of River Rouge and Andres Montgomery, 25, of Ecorse were charged last Friday with first-degree criminal sexual conduct, first-degree home invasion and assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder.

Montgomery was charged as a habitual offender due to three previous convictions for possession of narcotics, according to a report in the The News Herald. Montgomery (pictured, right) was on parole for a 2002 charge.

Police said the teen knew one of her attackers.

Woodhaven police tracked down the men at about 1:30 a.m. last Thursday after receiving information about the greenish-blue Jeep Liberty they were driving from a 911 call, the paper reported. Officers pulled the vehicle over on eastbound West Road near Interstate 75.

Each suspect accused the other of stealing the computer, according to Brownstown Township police. Neither admitted that the girl had been raped or set on fire, the paper reported.

Kinney told police they did light a Barbie doll's hair on fire, but not the girl's, according to the paper.

Kinney is being held on a $200,000 bond. Montgomery's bond was set at $500,000.

If convicted on first-degree criminal sexual conduct charges, the two men could face life in prison.
