An intruder attacked and attempted to sexually assault an 80-year-old woman in her Ypsilanti apartment Saturday, police said.
The man entered an apartment building located at 210 West Cross St. at about 7:30 p.m. and went to the third floor, according to police. He picked a lock on the victim's apartment door and entered, police said.
Police said the man grabbed the 80-year-old resident, causing injury to her wrist as he forced her into a bedroom where he robbed her and tried to sexually assault her. He later threw the woman into a closet and fled the scene, police said.
The intruder was only described as a black male. Anyone with information on the case should contact Ypsilanti police.
