POSTED: Tuesday, March 8, 2005
A Detroit police officer pleaded guilty Monday to charges of second-degree murder and drunken driving in a fatal crash.
Lt. James Agee, 56, was off duty when the crash occurred on June 19, 2004 at 3:15 a.m. on East Warren and Burns in Detroit.
Agee (pictured, left), an 18-year veteran who works out of the 13th Precinct, was driving the wrong way on a one-way street when his SUV collided head-on with a vehicle driven by 20-year-old Nehemiah Thompson. Thompson died from his injuries.
Police said Agee's blood-alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit.
Agee is scheduled to be sentenced in April.
