Nearly $4,000 In Cash, Certificates Stolen
The couple was loading gifts into their vehicle when someone apparently slipped into the hall and stole a gift box filled with cards and cash, the station reported.Pearson and her husband estimated that the box contained about $4,000 in cash and certificates."Who would actually have the audacity to take gifts from anybody, let alone newlyweds from their wedding?" Pearson said.The newlyweds planned to use the money as a down payment on their first home, the station reported.The union hall director told Local 4 that the hall has hosted hundreds of wedding receptions and there have been no reports of any stolen items until Sunday's incident.
