A Birmingham woman would not reveal her identity, but told her story to Local 4 on Tuesday in hopes that someone would turn in her 13.5 carat diamond wedding ring.

The woman, who has been married for 24 years, said her husband would increase the size of her diamond on their wedding anniversary each year.

"He wanted me to have something beautiful because he loves me very much and he works very hard," she said

She said she took the ring and a 3 carat yellow diamond ring off when she was getting her nails done at U.S. Nails near Woodward Avenue and 14 Mile Road in Royal Oak on March 30.

The woman said she felt comfortable taking the rings off because she's been a customer at the salon for the past two years, the station reported.

She said she fell asleep while getting her nails worked on and woke to find the rings both missing, Local 4 reported.

The woman said she made a couple of other stops before going to the nail salon. Employees at the salon and workers at the businesses she stopped to prior to that signed affidavits that they saw the ring on the woman's finger.

The missing rings are estimated to be worth more than $260,000.

Royal Oak police said they have a report on the missing rings and are investigating.
