A local woman was charged after police said she filed a false report that she was sexually assaulted by her husband.
Lakietha Evette Coleman, 32, was arraigned Tuesday in 35th District Court on a charge of filing a false police report, a felony punishable by up to four years in prison.
Canton police told
The Ann Arbor News that Coleman called 911 on April 29 and claimed that she had been sexually assaulted at gunpoint by her husband. Police said she also indicated that he may go to Franklin Middle School in Wayne -- where their children attend -- and take the kids.
Wayne-Westland Community Schools Superintendent Gregory Baracy told Local 4 that the Wayne Police Department advised officials to place the school on Annapolis Street under lockdown.
The husband never showed up at the school, and Coleman was taken to Annapolis Hospital by Canton Fire and Rescue for examination and treatment, the paper reported.
Canton Police told the paper that further investigation revealed that Coleman made up the story after her husband served her with divorce papers.
