PONTIAC, Mich. -- Police released surveillance video Thursday from a Pontiac gas station where a fatal carjacking took place earlier this month.
Authorities are searching for two people seen in the video who may have witnessed the carjacking, Local 4 reported.
"From the video, you can see two bystanders there who arrived in a white sedan -- a male and female," said Jerry Gleason, prosecutor. "We're looking for them. We're hoping they come forward. We're very interested in what information and what assistance they might be able to give us."
Police said David Lee Bingham, 38, stopped for gas at the Sunoco station on July 5, while on his way to work, when he was carjacked by two men.
The men appeared to flee the scene in Bingham's truck, but police said Christopher Eugene Jackson, 17, followed Bingham into the station and fired four shots into his chest as he called 911.
"The attendant handed him the phone and dialed 911," said Sgt. William Ware of the Pontiac police. "And as he was on the phone talking to the attendant one of the assailants came in and began shooting."
Bingham was taken to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Jackson and his alleged accomplice, Cordero Landrum, 18, have both been charged with murder, carjacking and felony possession of a firearm, Local 4 reported.
