PONTIAC, Mich. -- A murder suspect who was one of four men to escape from a Pontiac court on Monday was captured by police, Local 4 reported.
Jahmal Dillahunty, 23, was taken into custody in a Pontiac neighborhood just after 5 p.m., according to police.
Dillahunty (pictured, left) was in 50th District Court on a felony murder charge, but escaped with three other men after they overpowered a security guard, according to police. One man had reportedly taken the security officer's gun, but it was recovered, Local 4 reported.
Officers apprehended three of the men shortly after they escaped, but a manhunt for Dillahunty went on for about three hours.
Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said authorities captured Dillahunty as he was coming out of a home.
"He had gone into the house and the deputies and the Pontiac police ... they kicked in the door right after him," said Bouchard. "He ran out the back and they were able to take him down and into custody."
Dillahunty was convicted of home invasion in July 2000, second degree, Local 4 learned. He was discharged in 2003. It was not known what charges he may face in connection with Monday's incident.
Police shut down Saginaw Street between Woodward Avenue and M-59 during the search. Parts of other streets and businesses near the courthouse were also closed until authorities determined that Dillahunty had fled the area.
