Driver Tries To Leave After Crash Into Store

No Injuries Reported

POSTED: Thursday, August 25, 2005

Police are investigating after a man with a child crashed his car into a Westland store, and then started to walk away Wednesday evening.

The man's car crashed into Nankin Hardware on Ford Road, west of Wayne Road, Local 4 reported. Store manager Jason Campbell said the man was driving in reverse on Ford Road, and then put the car into drive.

Campbell said the man then, "came up and hit the curb." He then hit the building, and the car spun around, according to Campbell.

The man got out of his vehicle with a boy, believed to be about 5 years old, said Campbell.

The driver then started to walk away, Local 4 reported. Ambulance crews chased him down, according to the station's report.

The man and the boy were not injured.
