A 40-ton construction crane crashed into two homes in Ann Arbor Monday morning, according to police.
The brakes on the crane failed while it was driving south on South Fifth Avenue, near Madison Street, at about 9:05 a.m., according to a report in
The Ann Arbor News. The crane crashed into two homes on the northwest corner of the street, the paper reported.
The boom of the crane went through a second floor window of one home, and destroyed the porch of the second home, according to police.
"The house shook pretty badly," said victim Susie Valant in the paper's report. "We ran downstairs and outside."
There were no reports of injuries, police said. Residents were able to escape from one home, while the second home was unoccupied at the time of the crash, the paper reported.
A building inspector was expected at the site to survey the structural damage to the homes.
