A robber fled a local bank with cash after handing a teller a threatening note, police said.
Officers responded to a bank robbery at the LaSalle Bank at 40950 Van Dyke Ave. at about 11 a.m. Tuesday, according to a Sterling Heights police news release.
A 24-year-old teller at the bank told police that a man entered the bank, approached her and handed her a written note. The message demanded that she hand over all of her money to the culprit, police said.
The woman complied with the robber's demands and he fled the bank on foot through the parking lot.
Police conducted a search of the area, but could not locate the man.
He's described as black, 5 feet 7 inches to 6 feet 3 inches tall, with a medium to slender build, dark skin and a thin face. The man was last seen wearing a black bandana on his head, a blue hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
Anyone with information that may lead to an arrest has been asked to call Sterling Heights police at (586) 446-2848.
