Woman Given Deadline For Pet Rabbits
Animal Control To Return To Home On Oct. 31
POSTED: Wednesday, October 12, 2005
A Warren woman is looking for a new home for her rabbits after a visit from animal control, according to Local 4 reports.
Authorities came to Lisa Fitch's home after receiving complaints from neighbors about the smell from the rabbits.
Fitch, who owns more than 30 rabbits, was told that she would have to find new homes for the animals by Oct. 31. Officials said if she does not comply with the order, the rabbits will be removed from the home and taken to the Macomb County Animal Shelter, where a decision will be made on whether the animals should be euthanized, according to the station's reports.
Fitch said she did not know there was a city ordinance prohibiting rabbits as pets.
