UPDATED: 10:33 am EST November 29,2005

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating a small piece of an airplane that crashed through a Dearborn Heights home this weekend.

A plane headed for Detroit Metropolitan Airport Saturday dropped a part onto a home in the area of Willis and John Daly roads, Local 4 reported. The impact left a hole in the ceiling about 8 inches in diameter, the station learned.

No injuries were reported.

The FAA was expected to pick up the airplane part Monday. There are numbers on the piece that are expected to help identify where it fell from the plane, Local 4 learned.

Local 4 initially reported the part weighed 12 pounds, but has confirmed the piece was approximately 12 ounces.
