DETROIT -

Detroiters may soon be able to purchase a 7-Eleven Slurpee within the city limits for the first time in nearly two decades.

The convenience store chain plans to open three stores in the downtown Detroit business district by the end of this year.

The company says it is negotiating several sites around the Renaissance Center and Comerica Park.

While crime is a concern for the 24-hour stores, 7-Eleven says their stores tend to become assets in communities with similar struggles.
