Alcohol Suspected In Fatal Hamtramck Crash

Police Say Pickup Truck Driver Could Face Charges

POSTED: Wednesday, March 1, 2006

Police believe alcohol was a factor in a fatal crash that occurred in front of a fire station in Hamtramck early Wednesday morning.

The crash occurred at about midnight on Caniff, near McKay, Local 4 reported. Police said a pickup truck hit a Dodge Intrepid broadside, and a man inside the car was killed.

Two other people who were inside the car suffered serious injuries but were expected to recover, according to police. The names and ages of the victims were not released.

The pickup truck driver and passenger were not injured.

Police said the pickup truck driver appeared to be at fault and could face charges. The crash investigation was expected to be presented to the prosecutor's office Wednesday.
