8-year-old girl kidnapped, sexually assaulted by mom's acquaintance in Pontiac

Man arrested after luring child into car with promise of McDonalds, then sexually assaulting her

PONTIAC, Mich. – An 8-year-old girl was kidnapped and raped in Pontiac, and it was by someone police say she and her mother know.

The girl was with friends, walking down a Pontiac street, when a man in a silver car drove up and asked if they wanted McDonalds.

The victim was the only child of the group who said yes. She got into the man's car alone. He took her to McDonalds then to his home.

It happened near the 100 block of Putnam. Deputies were able to determine the identity of the suspect, who is an acquaintance of the victim's mother.

He is a 44-year-old resident of Waterford Township.

When deputies were on scene two hours later, the young victim was seen walking up Putnam Street by herself. The girl told police she was taken to an unknown location where it is believed she was sexually assaulted.

She was transported to St. Joseph Hospital. The man was located and is in jail pending arraignment. He is a registered sex offender.
