An 81-year-old Detroit woman is hospitalized after her grandson rescued her from her burning home.

Arson investigators are trying to figure out who would set her home on fire and what exactly happened.

"This is awful," said Andrea Pratt, the woman's granddaughter. "My grandmother didn't do anything to anybody."

Bessy Bell was sleeping in her home with her son and grandson when the house burst into flames early Wednesday morning. Her 13-year-old grandson dragged her from the home.

The woman was still hooked up to an oxygen tank when he dragged her outside.

"I came outside and the fire burst in my face. The smoke and everything burst in my face," said Jamal Bell, Bessy's grandson. "So, immediately I called my grandma to see if she was alright."

Arson investigators say the house windows were busted and burning bottles were thrown inside.

Bessy Bell is being treated for severe burns to her legs. Her son is also being treated for smoke inhalation.
