Victim in Critical Condition

POSTED: Monday, March 27, 2006

A man is in critical condition after shots were fired Sunday night.

The fight began at the Sunoco gas station on Fenkel and Wyoming streets and carried across the street to a McDonald's, Local 4 reported.

According to police, a panhandler asked four teenagers, between the ages of 13 and 17 years old, for money. The man pulled out a knife and one of the teens presented a gun and shot the man in the head outside the McDonald's.

The victim, believed to be in his late 20s, appeared to be mentally ill, according to witnesses.

The man is in critical condition, and police have the four suspects in custody.
