Ypsilanti Girl, 12, Dies After Running School Track
Autopsy Under Way

An autopsy is being performed on a 12-year-old girl who suddenly died after running track at school.
Kayla Stanford (pictured), a seventh-grade student at East Middle School in Ypsilanti, felt ill after running two miles at track practice Wednesday, Local 4 reported. She collapsed in a restroom, and was found by one of her coaches, according to a report in
The Ann Arbor News.
Stanford later died at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Local 4 reported.
Stanford was a healthy, popular student and family and classmates are in shock, the station reported.
