DETROIT -- A Detroit boy drowned in a recreation center pool Thursday.

A lifeguard found 10-year-old Gabriel Graham at the bottom of the pool at Butzel Recreation Center on Detroit's west side. The boy was found underwater in the deep end of the pool.

Family Members Talk About Incident

Lifeguards administered CPR and tried to revive the boy while police and emergency medical personnel rushed to the scene.

Graham's aunt told Local First News that the boy was allegedly pushed into the pool by a teenager who might have been disciplined before. They said that initially the victim, who was described as mentally challenged, was wading in the shallow end of the pool. He was reportedly accompanied by several family members.

The victim's aunt said that Graham got out of the pool and was drying off when the teenager allegedly pushed him into the pool.

The boy was taken to Children's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Family members said that Graham could not swim.

The investigation is continuing.
