A truck hit electrical wires, prompting a utility pole to fall in Southfield on Wednesday afternoon, resulting in a small fire and power outages, according to authorities.
The pole fell onto two vehicles in a parking lot at Telegraph and Nine Mile roads, according to Sky 4 at the scene. A transformer on the pole caught fire, which fire crews said was burning out.
DTE Energy crews were called to the scene, according to the Southfield Fire Department.
A nearby business, Maxitrol, was forced to evacuate, the Fire Department said. About 500 customers in the area were left without electricity, Local 4 reported.
Southfield Fire Department Chief Peter Healy said the situation is under control. No injuries were reported.
