DETROIT -- There are new developments on Thursday in the case of a missing 7-year-old Detroit girl.
Police said the clothing of a girl found dead in Romulus matched the clothing of Raven Jeffries, according to the child's friends. Her family was waiting for further confirmation and is holding out hope that Raven is still alive, Local 4 reported.
Raven was last seen on McDonald Street in southwest Detroit outside the front door of her home at about 7 p.m. on Friday, according to police and Local 4 reports. Her brother, David Hosler, asked her to stay on the porch while he went down the street, according to Brenda Jeffries, the child's mother.
An Amber Alert was issued and police spent the weekend using tracking dogs to search abandoned homes, woods and waterways in southwest Detroit.
The body of a girl was found in Romulus on Monday, but police have not yet identified the child. Police have used Raven's baby teeth, her bedding and her DNA to determine if there is a match with the child's body.
The Amber Alert remains in effect for Raven. Police have not made any arrests in connection with her disappearance.
Raven is described as 4 feet 2 inches tall, 65 pounds and was wearing a light blue button-down shirt, pajama bottoms and flip-flops with flowers on them, according to police.
