MEAP Exams Delayed For DPS Students
Labor Dispute Affected Start Date Of School

The Michigan Department of Education has agreed to adjust the test window of the MEAP and other standardized examinations for Detroit Public Schools students, school officials announced on Friday morning.
The labor dispute between the Detroit Federation of Teachers and the Detroit Public Schools delayed the opening of the school year. DPS Superintendent William F. Coleman III petitioned the state to give the District more time to prepare for the MEAP examinations.
The exams will now be administered on the following dates:
Oct. 18 - Nov. 7 - MEAP assessment, grades 3-9
Oct. 18 - Nov. 30 - MI-Access assessment, grades 3-8
Sept. 21 - Oct. 18 - English Language Proficiency Screener
October 10 - Submission of ACT Information Packet
November 1-14 - High School MEAP assessment
