Lawmakers Propose Bill To Prevent Teachers Strike
POSTED: Thursday, September 21, 2006
The teacher's strike in Detroit caused students to miss seven days of school.
Michigan lawmakers are proposing a bill to prevent it from happening in the future.
A new proposed bill would allow parents to report a school strike to the Michigan Employment Relation Commission.
That would speed up the process for the commission to fine striking teachers.
It is illegal for public employees to strike.
The state house will consider the bill after the November election.
