After his state's coastline took the brunt of Superstorm Sandy, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said Friday that he expects power to be almost fully restored statewide by Saturday night. "Life will be back -- for most of New Jersey -- to normal come Sunday," he told reporters. More than 175,000 households in the Garden State are still in the dark, and homes with saltwater electrical damage will have to be inspected by electricians before having their power restored.

Eleven days after Superstorm Sandy made landfall, flooding nearly all of the Rockaways, they are still cold and in the dark. Huddled beneath blankets and with the car's heat cranked up, 56-year-old Matt Lintonmapp Jr. has spent every night sleeping in his car since Sandy left him homeless. "My place got washed out," he said. "There's nothing left."

Gerardo Gomez was convicted Friday on 15 of 17 charges related to the 2007 execution-style killings of three college friends, New Jersey prosecutors said. A jury convicted Gomez, 20, of murder, felony murder, robbery and conspiracy charges, according to acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray. In August 2007, six attackers, including Gomez surrounded a vehicle carrying four college students near Mount Vernon Elementary School in Newark, assistant prosecutors Thomas McTigue and Romesh Sukhdeo told CNN.
