Adoption Day events scheduled across Michigan
Michigan Adoption Day is being celebrated across the state Tuesday.
Gov. Rick Snyder is scheduled to sign the Young Adult Voluntary Foster Care Act, which begins the process of extending to age 21 assistance for foster care, guardianship and adoption.
The governor is to be joined at Tuesday's bill signing and news conference by Michigan Department of Human Services Director Maura Corrigan and Michigan Supreme Court Chief Justice Robert Young
During the news conference, the Michigan officials are to celebrate the more than 200 adoptions of children from foster care this year. Several adoptions are to be finalized following the news conference, with families and children from Ingham and Ionia counties in attendance.
Similar events are to be held throughout the state.
