Camille Marino gets 6 month for protest of WSU researcher's experimentation on dogs
A Florida animal-rights activist has received a six-month jail sentence for her protests against the activities of a Wayne State University researcher.
Camille Marino of Wildwood, Fla., pleaded guilty to trespassing and unlawful posting charges in a deal with the Wayne County prosecutor's office, and Judge Bryan Levy sentenced her Wednesday.
She was arrested May 5th after chaining herself to a library door at Wayne State's campus in Detroit.
Marino, the founder of "Negotiation Is Over" (NIO), was extradited to Michigan to face charges.
Marino has called Donal O'Leary a "war criminal" for using dogs for cardiovascular experiments.
She also posted his address and other personal information online.
A statement on the groups website read, "NIO strives to be an instrument of defiance, disruption, disobedience, subversion, creative & aggressive grassroots action, and a catalyst for revolutionary change."
O'Leary had received a personal-protection order against Marino.
