Auschwitz-created 'Forbidden Art' on display at Orchard lake Schools before national tour
Exhibition of artwork made at Nazi's Auschwitz labor camp opens in Michigan before going on national tour
An exhibition of artwork made at the Nazi's Auschwitz labor camp is opening in Michigan before going on a national tour.
The "Forbidden Art" exhibit opens to the public Friday at the Orchard Lake Schools. The showing is 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
The art first went on display at the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum in Poland. About 3 million mostly Jewish people died at the labor and extermination camps in German-occupied Poland during World War II.
Organizers say the show includes 20 photographs and a large wooden display designed to represent the barracks at Auschwitz.
The exhibit is on display at the school district's Polish Mission.
